I believe all learning experience design should begin with the learner. Defining learner needs and conducting a proper gap analysis is absolutely essential before any kind of development. This approach means that I can ensure that learners will find my learning experiences to be relevant and useful, which is necessary to have any lasting impact.
Inclusive design is not only imperative to developing effective and equitable learning experiences, but it's also just the right thing to do. I purposely design for the widest of audiences because I believe it's my ethical responsibility and a crucial element in achieving learner engagement.
Improvement, whether you're talking about improving yourself or your designs, starts with feedback. I welcome and embrace feedback because I know that it's essential for delivering the best product. In my practice, I've adopted rapid prototyping, regularly sending sample designs to SMEs and stakeholders for their feedback, as it forges communicative partnerships and ensures better outcomes.
